Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan is the Vice Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology. He is a professor in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with over 180 research publications. He has been recognized as Honorable Guest Professor in the Shizuoka University, Japan since April 2014. He has been associated with SRM Group since its inception and has served in various academic and administrative roles.

He is a participative leader driving the vision of the university by initiating and executing path breaking ideas, developing people and devising strategies to transform the university to global standards. He has led the institution on international and national accreditation processes like ABET (USA), IET (UK) and NAAC. He is forward looking in the technology adoption and e-governance initiatives in the Academic environment.

He is widely networked with the academic leaders across the world and associated with the various professional bodies and also serves in key positions. He is a Fellow of IET, UK and also holds positions as a Member India Development Panel, IET, India, an Executive Committee Member of Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkata, Certified Member of Management and Leadership Education, Harvard University.

He also spearheads the Industry Academia collaboration initiatives and facilitates in developing collaborative academic programs and courses across various engineering specializations. He is one among the environment conscious leaders focusing on digitizing and automating works leading to paperless workflow operations.

He presently focuses on active and project based experiential learning methodology to create an exciting learning environment for the students to innovate within the academic system. FAB Lab, a state-of-the-art initiative was facilitated by him to provide necessary infrastructure to transform student ideas into products/prototypes. He works towards transforming the curriculum towards the design thinking approach based problem solving that enhances the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.

He also heads the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) and has been instrumental in the creation of the SRM Innovation and Incubation Centre (SIIC). The SIIC and the IIC fosters the culture of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Institution and play a vital role in encouraging student and faculty startups.

Covid 19 pandemic has set a newer challenge to education space. He has always looked for opportunities from challenges and has piloted the drive for online and virtual class initiatives.
