Dr. Paramita Mahapatra

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Delhi-NCR Campus. I completed my Ph.D. from NIT Durgapur and subsequently worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at McGill University, Canada. My research interests lie mainly in fluid mechanics, electrokinetics, and electrohydrodynamics, with particular emphasis on the electrophoresis of rigid and soft particles and fluid droplets in complex fluids. My research combines analytical and numerical approaches to study coupled transport phenomena involving fluid flow, electric fields, ionic transport, and interfacial effects. My core teaching areas include Linear Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, and Engineering Mathematics. My teaching approach emphasizes conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, and problem-solving, while connecting mathematical concepts with their applications in engineering and science. My aim is to make mathematics intuitive and relevant to engineering, encouraging students to move beyond formulas and develop strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
