Mr. Rakesh Kumar Mishra

I am a Chinese language and China Studies scholar with academic and teaching experience in Chinese language, literature, culture, and India–China relations. I hold a PhD in Chinese Studies from Banaras Hindu University, along with an M.A. in Chinese Language, Literature, and Culture from the Central University of Gujarat and advanced training in Chinese language and culture from Beijing Language and Culture University. I have also qualified HSK Level 5 and HSKK Intermediate. My research focuses on India–China cultural and historical relations, Chinese language and pedagogy, Chinese society and culture, and cross-cultural and civilizational exchanges. My academic work explores the historical and contemporary dimensions of Sino-Indian interactions, with particular interest in cultural exchange, intellectual connections, and the role of language in fostering intercultural understanding. My research and publications have addressed themes including ancient India–China exchanges, Tagore's engagement with China, and contemporary cultural practices in China. My teaching philosophy is learner-centred, interactive, and culturally informed. I believe language learning should go beyond grammar and vocabulary to develop communication skills, cultural awareness, critical thinking, and an appreciation of diverse perspectives. I aim to create an engaging classroom environment where students learn Chinese through practical communication, cultural contexts, interactive activities, and meaningful connections between language and society.
