I am Dr. Nidhi Kumar, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Delhi-NCR Campus. My academic and research interests include applied mathematics, mathematical modelling, optimization, and operations research, with particular emphasis on sustainable inventory systems, deteriorating items, preservation technology, partial backlogging, inflation, and carbon emissions. My research focuses on developing innovative and practical mathematical models to address complex real-world decision-making and sustainability challenges. My teaching philosophy is to make mathematics meaningful, discoverable, and applicable. I believe that students learn mathematics most effectively when they move beyond memorizing formulas to understanding underlying concepts and recognizing how mathematical thinking can address real-world problems. In my classroom, I strive to transform students from passive learners into curious problem-solvers and independent thinkers by encouraging them to question, explore, analyse, and apply mathematical concepts. I connect mathematical theory with practical situations, research problems, and real-world applications to highlight the relevance and impact of mathematics beyond the classroom. I believe every student can develop mathematical confidence when provided with the right guidance, encouragement, and learning environment. Through mentoring and research-oriented learning, I aim to cultivate curiosity, strengthen analytical thinking, foster creativity, and inspire students to become confident lifelong learners capable of applying mathematical knowledge to understand and address real-world challenges.
