Benefits Extended to the Employees

17.1 Salary

Monthly salary paid per SRMIST norms; annual increment sanctioned per norms.

17.2 Wages/Salary

a. Salary processing cutoff date: 20th of each month; requests after cutoff processed next month. b. New employees joining after the 20th get their first payout the following month. c. Wages paid to the employee's bank account (not applicable to casual employees). d. Wages may be paid at monthly rates per employment cadre. e. No wages for unauthorized/indefinite absence periods (including unpermitted/unintimated absenteeism).

17.3 Unclaimed Wages/Salary

Unclaimed wages may be claimed by the employee/legal heir within 3 years of becoming due. Substantiated claims paid on a notified date; legal heir-ship certificate required (or an indemnity bond otherwise).

17.4 Disbursement of Salary

Directly deposited to the employee's SB account; income tax deducted and remitted to the Government.

17.5 Employee Provident Fund (EPF)

All permanent employees enrolled under EPF; contributions per EPFO with matching Management contribution per the EPF Act.

17.6 Employee State Insurance (ESI)

Permanent employees earning ≤Rs.25,000/month enrolled under ESI; contributions per government rates, matched by Management per the ESI Act.

17.7 Gratuity

Employees with 5+ years of continuous service are eligible for gratuity on retirement/relief/death/disablement per the Payment of Gratuity Act.

Educational Allowances:

  • Fee concession for employees' children studying at SRMIST (per approved norms).
  • Concessional medical treatment at SRM Hospital for all employees.

17.8 Performance Evaluation of Faculty

Measured annually per norms.

17.9 Employees Welfare Facilities

17.9.1 Transport Facility

Free SRMIST buses for faculty on all working days.

17.9.2 Canteen Facility

Hygienic, quality canteen facilities at reasonable cost on campus.

17.9.3 Medical Facility

Subsidized Health Centre with duty doctors/paramedical staff round the clock, plus ambulance services, for students, employees, and immediate family.

17.9.4 Compassionate Appointment Scheme

Grants appointment on compassionate grounds to a dependent family member of a permanent employee (excluding probationers) who dies in harness or retires on medical grounds, for humanitarian/survival reasons. Applications assessed by serial number and a departmental-level committee evaluating indigent circumstances.

Annexure — Application details required:

  • Applicant name, application date (only one dependent per family eligible)
  • Relationship to the deceased employee
  • Date of birth/age (wife/husband/son ≤40 or unmarried daughter ≤30 on date of death)
  • Qualifications
  • Post applied for and fitness for it
  • Deceased employee's name/designation, office, probationer/permanent status, date of death or medical-invalidation retirement
  • Certificates: nomination by spouse; educational qualification; death certificate; legal heir certificate (Tahsildar); NOC from other family members
  • Administrative Department's recommendation
  • Signature of Appointing Authority

Notes: a. "Near relative" = wife/husband/son/unmarried daughter/adopted son/adopted daughter/adopted unmarried daughter/widow/divorced or deserted daughter only (excludes siblings etc.) b. Candidates must possess all prescribed qualifications (no relaxation). c. Dependents of temporary employees/probationers who died in harness are not eligible. d. Dependents of employees who died after retirement are not considered. e. If another family member was already employed before the employee's death (and lived separately without helping the family), other eligible dependents may still be considered.

17.9.5 Other Facilities

Staff quarters (Main campus), creche (Main campus), laptops issued to faculty, and food courts on campus.

17.10 Promotion, Performance Evaluation

17.10.1 Faculty

Based on UGC/AICTE and other statutory body procedures/guidelines.

17.10.2 Non-Teaching Employees

Appointment/promotion per the recommendation of a constituted committee.
