Myself (Mr. Varun Mishra) is an Assistant Professor of French committed to excellence in language education, intercultural learning, and innovative pedagogy in higher education. His academic approach combines French language proficiency, literature and culture, communicative competence, digital learning, and learner-centred teaching practices to create an engaging and meaningful language-learning environment. His teaching philosophy goes beyond the conventional teaching of grammar and vocabulary. He believes that a foreign language is not merely an academic subject but a medium of communication, cultural understanding, critical thinking, confidence-building, and global engagement. His classroom practice therefore encourages students to use French in meaningful, practical and authentic situations. He is particularly committed to helping learners develop the confidence to speak, listen, read, write, interact and express themselves effectively in French. His teaching incorporates structured grammar instruction, vocabulary development, interactive activities, role plays, discussions, presentations, contextual learning, multimedia resources and task-based activities. my academic vision is to develop students who are not only capable of understanding French but are also able to use the language independently and confidently in academic, professional and intercultural contexts. My research interests are interdisciplinary and centred on the intersection of French language education, literature, culture, technology and contemporary educational practices. Key Research Areas 1. Communicative and Action-Oriented Language Teaching Exploring how authentic situations, collaborative activities, projects and real-life tasks can transform students from passive learners into active users of the French language. French Literature and Francophone Studies Interest in French and Francophone literary traditions, cultural representation, identity, postcolonial perspectives and the relationship between literature and society. 5. Postcolonial and Francophone Studies Research interest in questions of identity, language, culture, colonialism, postcoloniality and representation in Francophone African and other postcolonial literary contexts. 6. Technology-Enabled French Language Learning Exploring the role of digital tools, multimedia resources, artificial intelligence and technology-enhanced learning environments in improving language acquisition and student engagement. 7. Teaching Philosophy “Learn French to Use French — Not Merely to Study French.” My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that every student can learn a language when the classroom becomes a space for participation, practice, confidence and meaningful communication. I follows a student-centred, communicative and action-oriented approach in which students are encouraged to actively use French rather than simply memorise grammatical rules. The CEFR similarly places emphasis on language activities such as listening, reading, spoken and written production, interaction and mediation. The objective is to transform: “I cannot speak French.” into: “I can communicate in French.” “Language is not merely a subject to be learned; it is a skill to be lived, shared and used to connect people, cultures and ideas.”
