Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering course at SRMIST deals with the principles of design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environments. These environments may include roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, railways, and many others.

This course provides students with a strong theoretical foundation, combined with a practical approach to learning, along with the interdisciplinary connect that is highly required to function in the real-world scenario. The aim is to achieve excellence by making available a wide range of elective subjects such as construction engineering, surveying, soil mechanics, construction, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, structural engineering, remote sensing, town planning, transportation engineering, and more.

The course also builds students’ competency in physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, management and allows them to gain practical experience and real-world connections through industrial and field visits. The curriculum is actively updated as per the latest industrial standards and the norms of the day.

Modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with the latest software help the students to refine their practical knowledge and allows a space for them to try out any creative pursuits that may help society. The department also maintains a strong connection with the industry through various consultancy projects with well-known names in the industry and organizes lectures, seminars, and symposia for further professional interactions. This ensures that the students are welcomed as valuable resources for any of the suitable companies that employ them.
