Smashing College Life with Love Babbar and Lakshay Kumar

On 27th Feb 2023 GeeksforGeeks SRMIST Delhi-NCR Student Chapter organized the mega event by one of the most popular code Love Babbar. He gave the tips of coding to the students. The event was organized in main auditorium at 2:00 PM and the house was full to its capacity with 800 Student sitting. The glimpse of the event are shown below:

Workshop on bottles for Change

On 3rd March 2023, CSI SRM Delhi-NCR Students’ Chapter in association with Department of Computer Science and Engineering , SRM Delhi-NCR Campus, organized a Workshop on Bottle for Change. Event was coordinated by Dr. Dhowmya Bhatt , Associate Professor (CSE) and Head (CDC and Placement) and Dr. Anna Alphy, Assistant Professor (CSE). The speaker of the event were Mr. Mudit Verma and Mr. Byju Kurian, Senior Executive- CSR, Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd.

The maintenance staffs were made to figure out the variety of plastic waste when the executives from Bisleri Bottle for Change introduced them the ways to safely dispose each one of them. They pointed that, it has become commonplace, but not everyone knows what plastics to recycle and which ones to dispose of in the trash i.e. items that can be thrown into the recycling bin are generally those made of PET or polyethylene terephthalate, a clear, strong plastic. Due to their composition and properties, do not recycle:

  • Plastic bags
  • Plastic wrap (i.e., bubble wrap, sandwich bags)
  • Plastic cups with a wax coating
  • Containers with mixed materials (coffee cups)
  • Takeout containers and cups made of polystyrene foam
  • Packing peanuts
  • Plastic toys/buckets
  • Small items, including straws, paperclips, bottle caps, and others that can’t be sorted and/or can jam recycling machinery

Hackhound (4 th-5th March 2023)

Hackhound was an MLH (Media League Hackthon) sponsored 24-hours Hackathon that seeks to provide an opportunity for ardent members of the hacker community to showcase the best of their talents and encourage tech culture to the new and old. The event took place on 4 th -5 th March 2023 and was organized by two faculty members Dr. Oshin Sharma, Associate Professor (CSE) & Mr. Naresh Sharma, Assistant Professor (CSE) along with the team of 6 students Devanshu Sinha, Tanay Morakhia, Arpit Tripathi, aabhya Jain, Suyash and Mohd. Shaheer on SRMIST Delhi-NCR Campus Modinagar Ghaziabad. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr.Ryan Swift Director of community operations at Major league hacking in the presence of Director Dr. Sanjay Viswanathan, Dean Academics Dr. D. K Sharma and HOD CSE Dr. R P Mahapatra on 4 th March 2023.

250 students from different institutes of North India participated in this hackthon. During the event various workshops and technical talks were given by MLH, Digital Ocean and Spheron along with mentorship sessions and networking opportunities. MLH team of 5 mentors and 4 judges along with 10 faculty supervisors and technical staff were present during the whole event and the projects were evaluated by them. 6 winning teams were awarded prizes including cash, kits and other incentives. Overall the Hackhound was a resounding successful and impactful event for hacker’s community.

Workshop by CETPA

Department of CSE organized an Workshop on 06th April 2023 for students of B. Tech CSE (Cyber Security) on topic Cyber Security. The workshop was organized by CETPA, Delhi. Event was coordinated by Dr. Abhilasha Singh, Associate Professor (CSE). Workshop described the collective methods, technologies, and processes to help protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of computer systems, networks and data, against cyber-attacks or unauthorized access.

Hacking is not about the illegal things it's all about how to secure your cyberspace and system from attacks. In this workshop cyber ethics, email hacking & security, malware attacks, windows system attacks,online data Investigation,credit card frauds & Cases, playing with google by google hacking, android mobile hacking etc. topics will be covered. This workshop aims to give Technocrats a basic knowledge of hacking and how to protect your system against hazardous effects. Some major Workshop Benefits were:

Workshop by Data Analyst, Sofcon Pvt.Ltd., Noida

Department of CSE organized an Workshop on 17th April 2023 for students of B. Tech CSE on topic python programming and AI. The workshop was organized by Data Analyst in Sofcon Pvt.Ltd., Noida. Event was coordinated by Dr. Abhilasha Singh, Associate Professor (CSE). Workshop provided Hands-on experience on Python programming and AI. In their talk, they told that Python is the simplest language of all the programming languages, and in reality, is one-fifth when compared with other OOP languages. They described some of the features as:

  • Python comes with Prebuilt Libraries such as Numpy to perform scientific calculations, Scipy for advanced computing, and Pybrain for machine learning (Python Machine Learning), making it among the top languages for AI.
  • Python developers all over the globe offer extensive support and assistance through tutorials and forums, helping the programmer much easier than another popular language.
  • Python is platform-independent and therefore is among the most adaptable and well-known options for various platforms and technologies, with minimal modifications to the basics of coding.
  • Python has the greatest flexibility among other programs, with the option of choosing among OOPs method and scripting. Additionally, you can use the IDE to search for all codes and be a blessing to developers struggling with different algorithms.

Workshop on IPR

On 27th April 2023, SRM IST Delhi-NCR Campus in association with NIPAM, organized a Workshop on IPR. Event was coordinated by Dr. Rolly Gupta, Assistant Professor (CSE) and Dr. Lalit Kumar Sagar, Assistant Professor (CSE). The speaker of the event was Mr. Himanshu Chandrakar, Examiner of Patents & Designs at RGNIIPM Nagpur.

IPR awareness workshops are a means of helping individuals understand the importance of protecting their intellectual property. This will help to protect their creations from being copied by others. In his talk, Mr Himanshu Chandrakar covered topics like a background of Intellectual Property, importance and significance, types of Intellectual Property (Patents, Designs, Trademarks, Geographical Indications, Copyrights, Semiconductor Integrated Circuits Layout Designs), and the reasons for many types of Intellectual property. He briefly discussed about a Patent, Importance of Patents, Searching for Patents, Popular areas of patent filing, and also how to file Patent application in India along with the forms should one fill and the fees one has to pay. The session was quite informative and insightful and the students made it very engaging as they gained a lot of information related to Intellectual Property Rights.

LIFE AT SRM: VIDEO EDITING COMPETITION

On 17th June 2022, CSI SRM Delhi-NCR Students’ Chapter conducted their first offline event “Life@SRM”. The event was organized to extract the hidden talent of students and develop their interest in the field of photography, videography, and video editing skills. The esteemed judges for the event were Mr. Dharamveer Singh, Dr Oshin Sharma, Mr. Jabir Ali, along with HOD Dr R.P Mahapatra. All the participating teams presented their videos to the jury and were guided with some tips on video editing skills by our guest Mr. Dharamveer.

WORKSHOP-TRAINING PROGRAM (NETCAMP)

On 6th September 2022, CSI SRM Delhi-NCR Students's Chapter started conducting their first workshop in association with Netcamp Solutions Pvt Ltd. The participants in this workshop are being addressed by Mr. Santu Purkait, Director at Netcamp Solutions Private Limited. This workshop is being organized to teach the students about Android Development with core java, Ethical Hacking, Cloud Computing and Machine Language. The first phase of the workshop i.e. Android Development has been completed and project submissions are already in motion. The next phase of this workshop is about to start soon. At the end of the workshop, the participants will be provided with 6 certificates on cloud computing, machine learning, android development with core java, ethical hacking , industrial training and summer internship as well as 3 projects mainly on android development, cloud computing and machine learning.

SEMINAR ON STUDY ABROAD

On 16th November 2022, CSI SRM Delhi-NCR Students’ Chapter in association with UpGrad Abroad, organized a “Seminar on Study Abroad”. The speaker of this event was Professor Joaquin Gonzalez, a 5-time Research Excellence and a 4-time teaching excellence awardee, Pro-bono President and CEO, Pilipino Senior Resource Cente, San Francisco.

The highlights of the seminar were Top 5 courses and careers in USA, Top courses to pursue in STEM, Business and Liberal Arts. Professor Joaquin guided the students through roadmaps and also resolved their queries on eligibility, student visa, application processes and scholxarships. The event was a great success because of the coordinating faculty incharges as well as members of the CSI core team.
