The Department of English and Foreign Languages, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Delhi-NCR Campus, Modinagar, Ghaziabad, organized a grand celebration of International Mother Language Day on Friday, 21st February 2025, at the campus's “Mahadev Lal Shroff Hall” under the guidance and leadership of the Head of Department, Dr. Madhurima Srivastava.

The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the worship of Goddess Saraswati by the Chief Guest, Hindi expert Dr. Chandrapal Sharma; Dean of the Institute, Dr. R.P. Mahapatra; Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities, Dr. Naveen Ahlawat; IQAC Dean, Dr. Dhoumya Bhatt; and the Head of the English Department, Dr. Madhurima Srivastava.

Following this, the Chief Guest, Professor Chandrapal Sharma—renowned Hindi scholar and academician, retired Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi at RSS PG College, CCS University, Meerut—delivered an insightful lecture on the importance of the Hindi language.

On this occasion, a special language workshop was also conducted, where teachers of various regional languages delivered lectures. The workshop featured discussions on the richness and cultural aspects of languages such as Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Urdu, and Odia.

Several engaging competitions were also held as part of the celebration, including the language workshop, quiz, language competition, poster making, dance performances, and guest lectures. A total of 121 students enthusiastically participated in these activities, expressing their love and respect for their mother tongue.

Subsequently, the winners among all participants were awarded prizes. This event proved to be an inspiring experience for all attendees and played a significant role in raising awareness about the importance of mother languages.

The Campus Exchange Programme had been organised between SRM Sikkim University and SRM Institute of Science and Technology Delhi-NCR campus Modinagar, Ghaziabad from 21st December 2024 to 31st December 2024 by the Department of English and Foreign Languages and Department of Hotel Management. The Programme was a resounding success, fostering a vibrant community of scholars and promoting cross-cultural understanding between institutions. Through this initiative, participants had gained invaluable experiences, forged lasting connections, and developed a broader perspective on academic and cultural practices. The Campus Exchange Programme had not only enhanced academic collaboration but also promoted people-to-people diplomacy, fostering a sense of global citizenship among our students.

Department of English and Foreign Languages- EFL, SRMIST, DELHI-NCR CAMPUS in collaboration with AICTE Training and Learning Academy (ATAL) organiged an online workshop.

This workshop is aimed to enhance Digital Creativity Skills for faculty members to further equip students for employability skills for future jobs.

The workshop was a hands-on workshop. Being a hands-on workshop, the faculty was encouraged on creating a project. The project was submitted at the end of the workshop through a submission form that was shared.This hands-on training at SRMIST – Delhi NCR allowed teachers to practice their skills with the software. Educators were keen on learning about tutorials and resources to help teachers and students understand more advanced concepts and use the Adobe Express Tool with greater efficiency. The training focuses on helping teachers create visually appealing and professional looking materials for their classrooms and it was an interactive session

On April 18, 2023, Department of English and Foreign Languages hosted a captivating event at the Pharmacy Block Auditorium. Renowned expert Dr. Dinesh Panwar, an Associate Professor at Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi, shared insights on the innovative application of technology and community partnerships in English language learning.

Dr. Panwar's lecture unveiled the transformative potential of technology in English language education. His presentation resonated with a diverse audience comprising students, educators, and language enthusiasts, igniting a renewed passion for leveraging technology's capabilities in language acquisition.

The event shed light on the instrumental role that technology plays in making English language learning accessible, engaging, and interactive. Dr. Panwar emphasized the need to embrace technology as an invaluable asset in the learning journey. Two day Workshop on ‘Art of Communication’ was organized by the Department of English and Foreign Languages (EFL), SRM IST, Delhi NCR Campus, Modinagar on 23rd and 25th August 2023. Grammar rules and Four Macro Skills of English language were discussed by the expert with hands on practice.
