The Department of Language, Culture and Society (LCS), SRM Institute of Science and Technology,
Delhi-NCR Campus, Modinagar, Ghaziabad, organized a grand celebration of International Mother
Language Day on Friday, 21st February 2025, at the campus's “Mahadev Lal Shroff
Hall” under the guidance and leadership of the Head of Department, Dr. Madhurima
Srivastava.
The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the worship of Goddess
Saraswati by the Chief Guest, Hindi expert Dr. Chandrapal Sharma; Dean of the Institute, Dr.
R.P. Mahapatra; Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities, Dr. Naveen Ahlawat; IQAC Dean,
Dr. Dhoumya Bhatt; and the Head of the English Department, Dr. Madhurima Srivastava.
Following this, the Chief Guest, Professor Chandrapal Sharma—renowned Hindi scholar and
academician, retired Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi at RSS PG College, CCS
University, Meerut—delivered an insightful lecture on the importance of the Hindi
language.
On this occasion, a special language workshop was also conducted, where teachers of various
regional languages delivered lectures. The workshop featured discussions on the richness and
cultural aspects of languages such as Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Urdu, and Odia.
Several engaging competitions were also held as part of the celebration, including the language
workshop, quiz, language competition, poster making, dance performances, and guest lectures. A
total of 121 students enthusiastically participated in these activities, expressing their love
and respect for their mother tongue.
Subsequently, the winners among all participants were awarded prizes. This event proved to be an
inspiring experience for all attendees and played a significant role in raising awareness about
the importance of mother languages.
