Fronius India Solutions & Skill Centre, Gurugram on 05/02/2026

Coordinators: Dr. Sachin Sirohi & Dr. Ankit Sonthalia

An industrial visit was organized for the students to Fronius India Solutions & Skill Centre, Gurugram, with the objective of gaining practical exposure to modern welding technologies and robotic welding systems used in industrial applications. Fronius is a globally recognized company known for its advanced solutions in welding technology, automation, and skill development.

During the visit, students were introduced to the fundamentals of welding, including various welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding. The experts from Fronius explained the working principles of welding power sources, the role of current, voltage, and shielding gases, and the importance of proper parameter selection for achieving high-quality welds. Emphasis was also laid on welding safety practices, standards, and quality control methods followed in industries.

A major highlight of the visit was the demonstration of robotic welding systems. Students observed live demonstrations of automated robotic welding cells, where industrial robots performed precise and repeatable welding operations. The trainers explained the advantages of robotic welding over manual welding, such as higher productivity, improved accuracy, consistency, reduced human error, and enhanced safety. The integration of welding power sources with robotic arms and controllers was also discussed.

The students were further briefed on Industry 4.0 concepts related to welding, including digital monitoring, data acquisition, and adaptive welding technologies. The role of skill development and training in bridging the gap between academia and industry was emphasized through the facilities available at the Fronius Skill Centre.

Overall, the industrial visit was highly informative and enriching. It helped students correlate theoretical knowledge with real-world industrial practices and enhanced their understanding of advanced welding and automation technologies. The visit proved to be a valuable learning experience and motivated students to explore career opportunities in the field of manufacturing and automation
